5/8" is the recommended Super, and when used as the Hive Body you have a
modular hive. Only one size super, one size frame and foundation. Reports are that bees winter
better with this arrangement. This size was
engineered so that three 6 5/8", commonly called Illinois, supers equal
exactly that of two deep supers. this trend in Ohio began years ago as is
pictured in the Extension Bulletin pg. 587, Beekeeping Equipment,
published by the Co-operative Extension Service, Ohio State University. |
